Summer Offerings
Public Speaking Mentorship Program
Our Mentorship Program's mission is to provide students with free public speaking and mentorship opportunities through virtual classes to help strengthen and sharpen their communication skills.
This is 6-week long program (July 4th to August 14th) that will take place entirely online.
Our program contains 4 lessons where middle school students can learn about and practice:
- Speech introductions
- Body language & Tone
- Idea generation & Mind Mapping
- Impromptu Speaking
Students will have the opportunity to deliver an impromptu speech, get personalized feedback and help, as well as certificates from a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Students will be working through the lessons in small class sizes with 2 mentors who are high school students (4:2 structure).

Amna SiddiquiLogistics CoordinatorHi! My name is Amna Siddiqui and I am a grade 11 student volunteering here at Teach For Speech Toronto. I am part of the logistics team, positioned as the logistics coordinator. Some of my hobbies include painting, reading and hanging out with my friends. A goal of mine is to stay optimistic through highschool, as it is only the beginning of getting into the “real world”. My life motto would have to be; “Fake it till you make it”. In the future, I hope to find a successful career in the business field.

Ghishawa IshfaqDirector of LogisticsHi! I’m Ghishawa Ishfaq, a grade 11 student volunteer. At Teach for Speech Toronto I am the Director of Logistics. Some of my hobbies include reading and video editing. One of my goals is to be able to continue volunteering throughout high school. My motto is “you learn more from failure than from success” because failure can be used as a learning experience. I would like to have a career in healthcare in the future.

Hello, my name is Sourya Penneru and I am a grade 12 IB and am serving as Director of Curriculum Design. I am an avid cinephile, love to listen to country music, and enjoy spending my time outdoors with friends and family. My goal is to push myself as far as I possibly can so I never have to look back at missed opportunities, whether it be personal or professional. I also try to enjoy my free time and never stress about school because at the end of the day, it is all secondary as the fun and joyous times in life are what matter!

Ibnat ChouduriCurriculum DeveloperHello! I am Ibnat Choudhuri a grade 12 student and I am one of the curriculum developers here at Teach For Speech Toronto. A quote that I always try to follow is, “It is the journey, not the destination that matters.” A lot of times the outcomes of our goals may not be what we hoped for, but we just take it as a learning opportunity. Some of my hobbies include, cooking and baking, riding my bike and listening to true crime podcast. I will be attending Waterloo University this Fall for their Management Engineering program. I am looking forwards to the career options I will be able to explore through this program.

Areeba WaseemAmbassadorHey! I am Areeba. I'm currently a grade 10 student at Donald A Wilson along with being one of the ambassadors for Teach for Speech Toronto. Some of my hobbies are to learn new languages and cultures along with writing poetry, reading and practicing soccer. One of my goals is to stay positive and find strategies to attain my goals. In the future, I aspire to become an aerospace engineer as I enjoy math and science along with learning the dynamics of how an airplane functions.

A goal I have in life is to spend my years on Earth living life and not regretting anything, a quote that motivates me to do so is “Don’t regret getting older, it is a privilege denied to many”. I love listening to music, playing board games and going out for walks. I aspire to become a forensic psychologist.

Smruti. Srikanta. SharmaAmbassadorHello! My name is Smruti. Srikanta. Sharma and I am in grade 12. I am one of the ambassadors at Teach For Speech Toronto. Some of my hobbies include dancing, painting, playing badminton, biking and listening to music. One goal I have is I want to travel the world. I love travelling and I love visiting historical places. I am in love with European architecture and so I want to cover the whole of Europe once in my life. I aspire to become a doctor although i'm not sure if I want to be a neurosurgeon, but i'm very interested in psychology and plan to study it in depth in the future. I am very excited to work with everyone and make new connections and memories.

I'm going into grade 11 and some of my hobbies are reading, doing arts and crafts, and playing the piano. Lately I have been trying to do things outside of my comfort zone to help myself grow. My goal in life is to help everyone around me to the best of my abilities. In the future, I aspire to become a very successful lawyer.

My motivation lies in knowing that every day I am doing something I am passionate about and learning tons along the way! When I am not studying or mentoring, I love to go biking with friends and paint. Post-secondary, I plan on pursuing a degree related to Physics or Astronomy (maybe even both!).

Zoe ReichertMentorHey everyone, my name is Zoe! I’m in grade 11 and I’m a TFST mentor. My motivation comes from my love of learning and willingness to try new things. I’m a multi-instrumentalist and I love to read sci-fi and fantasy novels. I hope one day to figure out what I’m most passionate about, but for now I’m just going to keep expanding my horizons. Some of my favourite subjects are History, Math, Music, and Computer Science. I look forward to helping my mentees gain confidence in public speaking!
