Summer/Fall 2023 Class Offerings
Elementary/Middle School Public Speaking
Through this course, students will engage in various speaking drills and exercises to further their interest in public speaking and sharpen their presentation skills. Students will also learn various persuasive and rhetorical techniques that will take their presentations to the next level. This course is designed for beginner and intermediate-level middle school students who wish to expand their public speaking skills and learn how to make the perfect presentation to an audience. Students will be able to constantly sharpen their skills through live presentations and will be able to receive constructive feedback from instructors and students throughout the course!

Melvin JosephChapter Founder & PresidentMelvin is a senior at Milton Academy who is interested in education, public speaking, and economics. He has been competing in speech, debate, and other competitions and aspires to work with others to create more opportunities in these fields for students around the world. He hopes to find ways to give back to the student community through education, competition, and equity advancement.

Alex HristovCurriculum DeveloperAlex Hristov is a junior at Lexington High School. He is a part of the student government and participates in Public Forum debate. He likes public speaking and thinks that it is an important skill to have. Outside of school, he enjoys volunteering for his community and playing volleyball. He is a big Boston sports fan.

Charlie Huang is a junior at Lexington High School. He loves to dedicate much of his time outside of school towards Public Forum Debate, Ultimate Frisbee, and practicing the alto saxophone for the school Wind Ensemble. Like others, he believes that public speaking is paramount to success in any field of work and believes it has a multitude of benefits in communication. As a hobby, Charlie is a light PC enthusiast and likes to spend what time he has remaining in games or building computers.

Sumair is a junior at Lexington High School who loves collaborative activities. He plays soccer and is a peer tutor at his school. He has been a part of several different volunteer programs where he worked with other people and learned how important it is to communicate clearly with a team.

Paco is a Junior at Lexington High School and likes to think of himself as a fun and often loud student-athlete. He is part of multiple clubs, and has experience in speaking to younger students from the middle and elementary schools about the dangers of peer pressure. Paco has also taken debate and public speaking at LHS–two of his favorite courses so far–and is always excited to teach the skills and importance of public speaking to others.
